The spa and holiday village of Bad Bayersoien with its pretty farmhouses and flower-filled balconies is picturesquely nestled between meadows, forests and gently sloping hills in the middle of the region called Pfaffenwinkel. Idyllically situated on the edge of the village and nestled in the moorland, you will find the Soier See lake (Link 1 | Link 2), which is ideal for swimming, rowing and sport fishing (licence available at the Fisher Häuserl). Bayersoien offers wonderful walks through the natural spa park, along the unspoilt round trip of lake Soier See lake with its moorland nature trail, moorland treading pool, Kneipp facility, barefoot path, as well as up to the Kapellenberg with its beautiful views. The unique flora and fauna invite you to linger in many places. The village is also the starting point for hikes through the beautiful foothills of the pre-Alps with numerous romantic gorges and magnificent views of the Ammergau Alps. Bad Bayersoien is easily accessible via the motorway Augsburg - Schongau or motorway Munich - Garmisch or with the federal railway Munich - Murnau - Saulgrub. A city map of Bad Bayersoien can be found on the Ammergau Alps page (supplemented by the location of our house). The 360° view of the region is very interesting even though not focussing on Bad Bayersoien. |

Families will find playgrounds of various sizes and equipment in many places, whether in the village below the primary school or at the fisherman's cottage by the lake. The nature trails along the lake, as well as the showcases on bird life along the panorama trail, will give your children an understanding of the region's closeness to nature. Summer toboggan runs can be found in Oberammergau (‘Alpine Coaster’ at the Kolbensattelhütte) and in Garmisch-Partenkirchen at the ski stadium. Popular climbing gardens can be found in Oberammergau at the Kolbensattelhütte and in Garmisch on the slopes of the Wank. Oberammergau also offers fun for children in the public pool ‘Wellenberg’, while adults can enjoy the sauna area there or - in good weather - the lock from the indoor to the outdoor pool. You will find another indoor and outdoor pool in Peissenberg (‘Rigi-Rutsch'n’). Please check on the Internet before your arrival whether the respective attractions are open during your holiday period. |
Bad Bayersoien is a real insider tip in this respect. The deep love for the homeland and the connection to nature are the key to down-to-earth customs and endearing, deeply rooted traditions. Nothing here is artificial, but genuine and honest. Guests can sense this in the performances of the traditional costume group and brass band, at folklore evenings, spa concerts and parades, as well as at the entertaining farmer's theatre and occasionally at the open-air theatre by the lake. Slide shows inform you about sights and interesting facts from the near and far surroundings. Of course, due to the proximity to Oberammergau, wood carving by local artists is at home here. If you would like to try your hand at woodcarving, you can find one or two courses on the Internet. |
There are always interesting events in the surrounding area, perhaps even during your holiday period. You are most likely to find the latest information on the Internet (e.g. here). |
